Wiki coder job versus billing and coding job

I'm almost finished with my coding portion of the course. I was wondering if it would be worth it to look for a coding job after I finish this portion or wait until I finish both the coding and billing portions to look for a job. Does anyone have insight in the difference in pay if I was to be a coder vs a biller and coder?

In general, coding positions are a higher salary than billing and typically require certification. Without experience in the field, I would strongly encourage you to find any position you possibly can related to revenue cycle and/or coding. If you search the forum, you will see dozens of posts with great advice about how to get started in the field.
I'll just add that pay should not be your only consideration of what type of position you want to work. Different people prefer and excel at different tasks and aspects. If you find something that is a good fit for you, in the long run could be a higher salary and more job satisfaction.

Thank you for your response. I have a little experience in medical billing and coding in the past, that is why I chose to do this course. I just want to find something that is rewarding and I can help people. I want to be able to work from home in the end but I have been told that takes years of experience which I don't have. The pay question was really in regards would it be better than my current job as a retail team lead, that I'm unhappy at most of the time due to environment.
 
AAPC has a salary calculator and a lot of useful references that can give you an IDEA about what other AAPC members have reported. You can specify location, type of job, type of employer, amount of experience, etc.
Don't forget that it's not unusual when starting a new career to perhaps have a pay decrease in the beginning. You may be comparing a current position with 10 years of experience to a new position with zero experience. You also have to account for the long term career goal and job satisfaction.
