I work for Family Practice Physicians. One of our Dr's was on call & saw a pt in ER for evaluation of possible TIA. The patient was not admitted, but discharged on same day. Are we able to bill cpt# 99283 or does this only apply to ER physician's? If so, is there a code that would apply here?

If the covering doctor who saw the pt was also the covering provider for the ER, then only the ER E/M would apply. If the doctor who was on call was only covering his practice and was called into the ER by the ER provider then you can bill the appropriate outpt E/M level.
