How do I code an interpretation of report ( in this case, warts). The Podiatrist sends it out to a path lab and gets the report back. Is there a separate code for the interpretation or is it part of the 17004 code or do I put a modifier -26 on a code?? (if so, which one??) Thanks!

If the Podiatrist is just reviewing the pathology report, then there's no separately billable code. The Pathologist is the one interpreting the histological results, not the Podiatrist. The 17004 code is for destruction of 15 or more premalignant lesions (i.e. actinic keratosis). I'm confused about what the provider actually did though. Since he sent it out to pathology, he must have either biopsied or excised the lesion to have a sample, which wouldn't happen with a simple lesion destruction.
