An Rx was written for Atherosclerosis, but the ultrasound came back negative. How am I supposed to code the ultrasound?

what is on the order?

HI, I realize that the order is often the condition the physician is trying to rule out and sometimes that is due to a mixed message coming from facility guidelines and professional guidelines. For facility billing they are allowed to use rule outs but professional coding is limited to symptoms in absence of a definitive diagnosis.

There is in ICD10 screening codes, and even a code for a suspected condition ruled out.

I hope this helps
