I am just starting to code for a plastic surgeon's office so I apologize in advanced if this is a simple question I am asking. My surgeon wants us to code the complex 20 cm closure along with the debridement and flap code
Wound was opened completely and irrigated with IrriSept followed by triple
antibiotic containing saline solution. There was exposed hardware and bone.
The peroneus longus muscle was closed immobilized and using a 2-0 Vicryl it was inset over the hardware and bone to cover it completely. A 2-0 Vicryl was then used to close the dermal layer followed by nylon interrupteds for the skin. There was good capillary refill and pinprick test with an 18 gauge needle revealed capillary bleeding from even the snuggest areas of the closure. Bacitracin, Xeroform, and a dry sterile dressing and a splint was applied. He tolerated the procedure well, awoke from anesthesia and brought to recovery room in stable and satisfactory condition.
