Good afternoon!
I work a side job at an MD office and we have a patient who dropped off a urine sample that our doctor looked at himself through a microscope. This was to see if her bladder infection had cleared up. But because she just dropped the sample off and he read it but never saw her for a visit, would it be most appropriate to code 81015 since you cannot use an E&M code because he didn't physically see the patient?
I also had another question re: urinalysis. For patients that are in the office being seen by the MD who also get a urinalysis that same day, if you code for the urinalysis does that get reimbursed by MCR or is that included as part of a 99214 E&M code?
I appreciate any assistance!
Thank you and have a great day!
