We are a family practice with office hours from 8 a.m-5 p.m who need clarification on how to bill for after hours? For example, a patient is scheduled for 4:30 p.m but isn't seen until 5:15 p.m because the doctor was running behind, can he bill for the after hours code since technically we close at 5 p.m?

no you cannot bill for afterhours because you are running late. If you schedule a patient to be seen after hours then you can add a 99050 to all other codes and many payers will pay an additional amount.
