How to code visit if Dr. who was on call received call regarding patient, and at that moment patient wasn't admitted as inpatient yet but by the time when Dr. saw pt, patient was admitted as inpatient. Should I code as ER visit or as inpatient visit?
 
Personally, I code that as inpatient when the doctor actually saw the patient and you have a progress note for the date after being admitted.
 
But if Dr. spent time to review patient's chart and ordered XRay or CT before seeing patient (while patient still wasn't admitted as inpatient)?
