Some common diagnoses our physicians in pain management document are 'greater trochanteric pain syndrome' and 'myofacial pain syndrome'. I haven't been able to come up with a definitive code for these conditions and was thinking of using the codes for the pain symptoms (M25.55 and M79.1 respectively). Is there a more specific code to describe these conditions or would using the pain codes be sufficient?

If you follow the ICD-10 index you will be directed to the correct codes. For example, when you look up Syndrome>Pain>see also Pain>then you go to Pain>Myalgia>Myofascial pain syndrome is listed under here. (M79.1_).

It always comes back to the index. Also, reading the official guidelines such as for Chapter 13.
