A parent brings a child into the ED alleging sexual assult of her daughter from the father. ED doctor did a vaginal exam and found no signs of sexual assult.

Does anyone know how this would be coded for diagnoses?

So far we've come up with V71.5 - Observation following alleged rape. Is there a specific E code that should be coded along with this and is there specific documentation for referencing purposes?

Thanks

Is there specific documentation that states the code is to be used for alleged or suspected? I am being told that it should only be used if a rape actually was determined.

Alleged

I'm thinking I would use V65.5 - Feared complaint/ no diagnosis.

I would hesitate to use any of the alleged rape or abuse codes because you are tainting the patient (and father) with something for which no evidence at all was found.

Just my opinion
