Hi everyone, I was just wondering what is the correct way to code ivus in mid rca, and mid ramus, and stent in rca and stent in mid ramus. I always struggle with this as the ramus is not a vessel recognized by medicare. do i use the vessel modifiers lad or lcx to code it as it arises from between the two. thanks for your help

very good question.
I do not disagree with jewl, her answer is as good as any I have seen. Since the ramus is neither LD or LC (I have always considered it LC ) my advice is to be consistent whichever you choose. I do not alternate the modifiers when the ramus and another site are treated even if it means one may not be coded/reimbursed.

HTH :)
