Mirena is hormonal intra uterine contraceptive device. This can be inserted non-surgically.
So to your question ..

ICD 10 is Z30.430 Encounter for insertion of intrauterine contraceptive device
Above Dx code is to be used if the visit is for new insertion of IUD, not for removal and reinsertion.
Rest of the code you mentioned above can be coded depending on your documentation.

What about temporary national code S4981 for Insertion of Mirena? It is non-covered by Medicare but is on our local BCBS fee schedule.
Hi. Did you receive any further information on the S4981 code? We have been asked why we are not billing the S4981 instead of 58300? Please help
