When coding 25115 is it acceptable to code 64721 as a secondary procedure. Encoder pro says it is okay with an acceptable modifier. The procedure is being done on the same hand but the surgeon feels they are independent procedures. Any help is appreciated.:)
 
I would need the op report for the 25115, but the 64721 looks correct to me to be used alone for carpal tunnel syndrome repair procedure unless any other procedures were done. What did the patient initially come in to get done?
 
I dont see any CCI edits preventing these procedures from being billed together but I would really look at the documentation to make sure he is really doing a radical resection because code 25110 is inclusive with 64721.
