what would be the correct code for PAIN CONTRACT SIGNED

yes, pt main reason was to sign contract but also had other complaints, and the 2nd pov of the visit is the pain

I've never come across a separate code for "contract signed"...when I first read the question I was thinking you meant CPT code, but now sounds like you meant ICD. If physician documents chronic pain, there are codes in the 338 set for that; otherwise use whatever acute pain is documented.

I have to agree with Meagan, if the reason for the encounter was sign a contract for treatment of chronic pain then the 338.2- code is your first listed code.. I would suggest reading the guidelines for coding visits for pain management.
