patient has aids and admitted with pneumonia (not PCP) is it a general rule that aids is coded 1st? appreciate your help.
 
AIDS first

Yes, always code the undelying disease first, especially with AIDS. Also, make sure that the patient has been diagnosed with the active disease and not just a positive AIDS test. I am sure that you know it but it is a common mistake. If it is just a positivie test, use the V- code and place it last after the PNA.;)
