Hi,

Need help on how to convert the 40 X 26 cm wound debridement done upto down deep to muscle and fascia to code 11043 (first 20 sqcm) and 11046 (each additional 20 sqcm), centimeters of the wound to the square centimeters. Thank you.

Multiply 40 times 26

Be aware this is an unusually large wound and if this is Medicare they will initially deny this claim as medically unlikely. They may pay on appeal if the documentation supports a wound of this size.

Thank you for the response, and I was also wondering on the size of the wound as the patient had it on the left lower extremity and would that be of that big a size..to use the CPT 11046 x 51. Thanks
