When clinicians are preparing for family (parent) sessions without the child present. For example: feedback, strategies and home recommendations.
- Is there a code that can be used to compensate the clinician for the time taken to prepare?

There are CPT codes listed to have the caretaker or guardian visits without the patient present. Can use CPT 90845-90847 codes without pt present. Check out CPT 90882-90885 review psych records and coordination. Documentation in the med record should be as follows breaking out time for each discussion plus listing counseling and care coordination over 50% of time mentioned. Clinicans MD, LPC LCSW or QHP state documentation of 20 minutes on care coordination and spent atleast 16 minutes or more minutes on pt caretaker discussion or illness or suggestions for beh. health care, Etc. Here are some more CPT codes helpful for your situations..... QHP staff use telephone CPT 98966-98968 ensure add minutes in medical documentation & permission use phone per pt. MD can use the CPT phone 99441-99443. Other online email message results CPT 98970- 98971. MD and LCSW LPC can use CPT 90875 interactive complexity as add on code for CPT 90832-90838. If do Zoom or video can add modifier 95 plus add minutes in medical treatment notes. Ensure list assessments/dx codes and describe pt mood & actions.
Helpful dx code blocks can range in Depression F32, F40 Social phobias, F43 PTSD, F51 and G47 insomnia , F60 Borderline Pers DO, F10-F19 types of substance abuses. Use dx R45 block if pt described as crying, worries,, hostile, anger. And if suicide or homicidal intentions add dx R45.85, or T14.91 or if in past history Z86.69. Check out dx Z73.3 Stress or Z56.3, Family stress Z63.79 .Homeless ness Z59.0 but I d add dx F99 or F10 or some kind of reason for being homeless if mention in medical record.If get lab test can use dx Z02.83 if blood lab test or depending if urine R82.998 or blood abnormalities R78.89
