We have been coding 87811, 87804, 87804-59. However, a coworker and I have started to question if we are coding correctly.

The CPT codes you use will depend on the type of COVID-19 and flu A/B tests being performed. There are different CPT codes that can be used for rapid tests performed in the office depending on how they are run and how results are determined. What brand of COVID-19 and flu tests are you using? The codes you are using may be appropriate for some of them, but not all.

Is 87428 the correct code for Respiratory Test Kit McKesson COVID-19 / Flu A&B Antigen Test (Professional) 25 Tests CLIA Waived done in a providers office?
This is a nasal swab then swab put into reagent tube & then swab mixes with liquid & drops are placed into the test cassette sample well where sample is applied to a test card. The liquid moves across the card, and if the viral protein is present, it reacts with antibodies on the test strip, producing a visible line or indicator that shows a positive results.
