Identify and code Outpatient, and Emergency Room medical records using ICD-9-CM and/or CPT codes as appropriate. Using the 3M HDM abstracting system, abstract statistical data for Inpatient, Same Day Surgery, Interim Care, Outpatient, and Emergency Room medical records. Communicates with the Medical Staff regarding documentation and assignment of codes to enhance accuracy. Assists with quality assurance studies as requested Follow-up on the Maine Health Information edits, Patient Account inquiries, and other audits as assigned. Assists Coding Manager with the coordination of the coding process. Maintains and demonstrates understanding of, and complies with all policies and procedures and guidelines for Corporate Compliance Assist the Coding Manager with coding and compliance audits as assigned. Uses Chartscript when necessary. Requires CCS, CCA, RHIA, RHIS, CPC, COC.
