Is there a new Outpatient coding tool documentation requirements for the 2013 e/m codes in Behavioral health.

Em billing for behavioral health is no different than billing EM for anything else. Follow the 1995 or 1997 EM guidelines. 1997 is more advantageous. One exception is codes can NOT be billed based on counseling/time as they can in other areas.

There are no "new" E&M codes for 2013; simply follow the documentation guidelines as before. However, there are new codes in the medicine section. Here's a crosswalk. Have a good week.
