If a doctor codes hamstring vs partial tear/sprain for the final clinical impression. How do you code versus? Do you have to inquiry the doctor?
I always wonder how you properly ask them for further information. I am so new to coding. I want to do it right. I appreciate all feed back.
 
Hi Daniele, you cannot code Versus in outpatient. I don't think querying the physician is necessary. In this situation I would code any symptoms the patient presented with example: leg pain 729.5 .
 
I agree with Sal; you cannot code versus. I would just code the signs and symptoms.
