Can anyone help me in coding this scenario..........
The patient presents to the hospital--A on 10/01/2012 for treatment of open wound to the finger (finger got caught in treadmill). The patients gets plastic surgery referral and appointment fixed for 20/01/2012.
The same patient present to Hospital--B on 12/01/2012 for pain in the finger. The physican treats the patient for pain and finds that the wound is healing and some callus tissue growth, hence debribement is done.
Is it appropriate to code the second visit with open wound or pain with history of injury (because the acute care has been performed two days earlier).....
