collecting copays is manditory

Is there a specific section of a specific document that states practices must collect copays? This would be helpful to site for when patients do not want to pay copays at the time of service or ask that we write off copays. Thanks!
 
The copay is the patient's contract with their carrier and it is written in their benefit manual. As the provider you are not allowed to adjust the terms of their contractual responsibilities.
