Colon resection with drainage of abdominal feuclent material

My provider did a sigmoid colon resection with end colostomy, drainage of abdominal feculent material ( he encountered large amount of feculent material), and abdominal washout. Can we bill for drainage of abdominal feculent material? I am not finding any information on this. Please help!

Wouldn't attaching modifier 22 to the main procedure cover this?

I am not sure. That is why I was asking, to see if anyone ever billed for it.

I would think a thorough abdominal rinsing is standard surgical hygiene when the colon is involved.

Colonic lavage is basically an enema and does not flush the abdomen, and the note didn't say colonic lavage so I don't think this would work.
