Wiki Colonoscopy Question

I need some help please. Dr X performed a "video colonoscopy to cecum with cold biopsy of ascending colon, descending colon, and sigmoid colon". He believes it should be coded as follows:
45380
45380.59
45380.59
due to the three sites. The way I understand it, it should be coded per technique used, so I think it should be coded with just 45380.

Am I correct? Please help me understand this...

You are correct - regardless of how many bx were taken you can only bill the 45380 one time as the description specifically says single or multiple.

Yes you are correct. 45380 should be coded per technique not per biopsy. Hope this helps...I am sure your Doc won't be happy.
