Can anyone clear the confusion on using the adult preventive medicine codes when it comes to doing an exam? Does the female exam need to include pap (if applicable), breast exam/pelvic exam and does the male exam need to include examination of the genitals? I have a background in OB/Gyn and so the female exam has always included the above, but now working in an Internal Medicine environment and provider does not do the above on his patients but wants to charge a preventive wellness exam on his patients. Also he thinks that adding the statement "patient refused exam" that will work, any ideas on this? Please help with clearing up the muddy waters. Thanks
