Hi All,
Our organization has purchased an add on diagnosis search tool for our providers using an EMR. There are definite flaws from a coding perspective in that certain searches will bring up an incorrect ICD-9 code for that conditions. Bottom line.... the provider can inadvertently diagnosis a patient with a condition that they do not have!
I have researched this issue trying to find the facts regarding the gravity of this issue, but am unable to find any official ruling.
Can anyone out there guide me in the right direction?
