Wiki Confirmation/Threatened Ab/Start global OB?

Hello all,

Pt is scheduled in office for confirmation of pregnancy. Pt was previously seen at ER, had U/S done and was diagnosed, threatened ab. The OB (ACOG) record has not been started. After seeing our Dr in the office, he documents, 7 week pregnancy, early spotting ordered follow-up U/S to "check" pregnancy, gives EDC from U/S done @ hospital.

My question is, can we bill E/M for threatened ab since ACOG forms haven't been started or is this considered global because pt was confirmed pregnant in ER by ER physician?

My thought is if the patient was confirmed pregnant by another medical facility, eg; ER, then your physician new she was pregnant and this would be the first OB visit and the record should be started, thus being part of the global. If she ends up miscarrying then this will get billed out at that time.
