Can someone help me clarify?
Chronic ACL/MCL/PCL tear in icd-9 it went to 717.8x
in icd-10 it maps to chronic instability- M23.50x?

In what scenario would we use Spontaneous disruption of ACL M23.61x?

Example:
Patient comes in with pain and instability of R knee. He states he injured his knee approx. 1 yr ago playing baseball. Treatment plan is to get a MRI

Patient follows up 1 week later for MRI results and new treatment plan. MRI shows R knee ACL tear and a tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus. The patient is scheduled for surgery.

What codes would be used in this scenario and in the surgery billing???
M23.221 for the MMT
but M23.51 or M23.61 for the ACL or would it go under S83.511A since there was a injury?
To me its not as clear but I'm pretty sure I'm getting myself twisted up by over thinking.
