Is anyone using the new injection codes for caths with congenital heart disease? The codes are 93563---93568? When do you know that it's a congenital heart cath and when it's not? A little confused...thanks for your help

That is a good question. One way is that the congenital heart cath codes will be primarily used for children, from babies to young teens. After that it is dependent upon the physicians documention. If you are coding for procedures on adults I would use the non-congenital codes unless your doc says otherwise.

HTH :)
