Good Morning!
I have a scenerio and have been told two differnt ways to code it. Hoping for clarification.
I have an ED patient who was given Adult Conscious Sedation. Patient was constipated and the doctor gave Versed 2mg IV and then he digitally disimpacted patient.
I don't know what CPT code I can use. I come up with CPT 45915 but that states "Removal of fecal impactation/foreign body (seperate procedure) UNDER ANESTHESIA. I don't know if I can use this CPT code b/c of the anesthesia. I was taught that 'Conscious Sedation' is a different sedation charge and NOT anesthesia. But then I was told that Conscious sedation is a form of anesthesia so go ahead and charge the CPT 45915. I'm confused on which way to code it and any imput would be GREAT. Want to code my chart correctly
