Hi, I am new to coding for the ASC. Does anyone know if you can bill for conscious sedation in an ASC? I cannot find it on the Medicare fee schedule but just want to double check. Thank you!

first of all it depends on the type of procedure that is being done. For example, is it for endoscopic procedures or pain procedures?

Most endoscopic procedures include the conscious sedation and your cpt book will indicate this with a symbol near the code. For pain, if your contracts have conscious sedation as a payable procedure then yes bill it.

you really need to know what your contracts are for the asc you are billing for.

Hope this helps
