Is it ok to code something that states "consistent with.." in a report, or does that fall under the never code "probables, suspected, and likelys"?

Not a definitive diagnosis

No - per Coding Clinic, third quarter 2005, terms like "compatible with" and "consistent with" fit the definition of a probable or suspected condition and therefore, the condition cannot be coded in an outpatient or office setting.

(I posted this same answer when you asked the same question in the diagnosis coding forum)

Thank you! When I checked this morning on my original post, I saw a lot of views, but no responses.
