Our office has been informed by United Healthcare that, although we are contracted with multiple other commercial plans through United Healthcare AND are contracted with Medicare, they are unable to add Medicare Advantage to our agreement. We have already attempted to appeal for exception to the closed network, but received a response stating the UHC Vice President of North Carolina wants to keep the network as it is now. My question is, does anyone know if they are even able to refuse us considering we are contracted with Medicare and this plan handles Medicare enrolled patients? Our physician is a highly sought after Mohs Micrographic surgeon for the treatment of skin cancer, a niche of which there are not many in our area. We have already had patients who we are unable to provide this service to because we cannot receive a contract. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
