Hello and good morning,
We are a multi-speciality practice and have a new pain management provider. I am trying to figure out how to bill the contrast material Q9966 correctly. In a procedure note he says he is using 3 ml of 240 Omnipaque. Would we bill a qty of 3, 240 or 720. I am so confused. I know I have seen research that shows you do not bill per ml but per mg of Iodine used. Then I see conflicting information. I just want to bill correctly. If someone could please help me I would be very grateful. Thank you from a frustrated biller.

The HCPCS code description for Q9966 states ‘per ml’, so your units for the code should be the number of milliliters given, in this case 3.
