We had a patient who fell had a intertrochanteric hip fracture and our doctor did 27244 ORIF with dynamic hip screw system implant. Then a month later the fixation failed. So our doctor went back in removed the dynamic hip screw implant and performed a unipolar hip hemiarthroplasty. What would the proper code be for this?
If it were a conversion to a total hip it would be 27132 but it's only a hemi and there is no code that directly addresses a hemi versus a total conversion.

Since there is no specific conversion code for a hemiarthroplasty, it sounds like it might just be coded as 27125. I'm still pretty new with hip surgeries, but that's what it seems like.

EDIT: Though I did find an article that might help, you may need to code it as a fracture repair CPT? https://revenuecycleadvisor.com/new...PT Manual, hemiarthroplasty for a hip fracture.
