Wiki core before specialty

In the old days ...

In the (not so) old days you HAD to have a core credential before you were allowed to take a specialty exam. That is no longer true. So you can take a specialty exam even if you have not yet earned a core credential.

BUT ... please be aware that it is sometimes more difficult to get the appropriate specialty CEUs to maintain that specialty credential.

If you have CPC you can count ANYTHING related to coding for your CEUs (including some limited practice management training). If you have a specialty credential ALL your CEUs must be specific to that specialty.
