Our practice reads its own dermatopathology for both technical and professional. We are now bringing on IHC stains for these slides. The pathologist would like to know the correct way to bill the control slide, positive slide and negative slide in addition to the 88035 and the 88342/88341 for the stains themselves. What would be the proper codes to use and how would this appear for the charges/claims? Modifiers? I thought the 88342/88341 was correct, but this only for the stained slides themselves. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
