Looking for confirmation on which code is appropriate for billing the surgical assist at Cesarean. Since the patient has received entire care at OB practice I have been using the global billing code 59510 (antepartum, cesarean & pp care) for surgeon and 59514-80 for surgical assist (another provider-same OB practice). Would this be correct coding? Appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Yes, the primary (if billing global) uses 59510. The assistant should not use the global and codes 59514-80.
I work for a gynecologic oncology practice where the physicians are occasionally called in to assist C-sections for placental issues. Maybe 2 or 3 times I have needed to write a letter explaining the situation, but I don't think we've ever not received reimbursement billing 59514-80.
I will note that I have heard of issues from other general ob offices getting paid for an assist on a C-section, but I cannot speak to details. It's also possibly they were incorrectly billing 59510-80 when getting denied.
