Patient had an abnormal pap in 2022, normal in 2023 getting another for 2024. Since she did have the abnormal in 2022 (reason for yearly pap's) would it still be appropriate to code R87.619 (or other abnormal pap based on results) or should this now be a screening since the 2023 was normal? TIA!

I defer to the clinician to assign diagnoses. Even if not the codes, but stating the words of why the PAP was done. I would lean toward this is a screening, as typically an abnormal PAP is repeated sooner or results in additional testing.
