My office has been billing out surgical procedures incorrectly. Some procedures were billed that weren't perfomed and some procedures were performed and not billed. I am now in charge of all surgeries and want to maximize his reimbursement. My question....would you go back and submit corrected claims for the past year, even if that means that they will be asking for a refund on some and paying additional on others?

Yes I definitely would to avoid issues in the future with a possible audit. It can be a lot of work but it is better in the end. Just keep good records of the corrected claims and overpayments / underpayments, and the final result in case of a future audit.

Thanks Melissa. That was my thinking as well. I know its a pain, and luckily, the provider is open to what I tell him. Have a GREAT rest of your week!
