Hi,

My surgeon did an osteotomy for angular correction of metarsals 4 and 5 for the diagnosis of 733.81 (malunion).

He coded it with a 28309, but we are now looking at 28322 to bill with instead due the dx.

Does anyone know if the 28322 code billed once would take care of both of the mets (4&5)? It says nothing about multiple as the 28309 code did and does not state that it shouldnt be billed more than once.

Thanks!

HI...
This can be billed 2 times (28322)... Don't forget your HCPCS T Modifiers to identify each metatarsal! I would also add -51 or the dreaded -59 depending on the carrier for the second code!
Have a good one! :)
