My doctor was involved in a co-surgery. I would appreciate it if you could assist with the coding.

1) It was a hand-assisted laparoscopic rectosigmoid rection with colorectal anastomosis (Primay Surgeon)_. (Lysis and left salpingo-oophorectomy (co-surgeon)
2) Mobilization of the splenic flexture
3) Appendectomy

The primary office gave me the following codes
DX- 562.11, 568.0, 620.8
CPT= 44207, 44213, 44955

My initial steps were adding the modifier 62 to all three of the above codes. I also added CPT 58720 for the salipingo-ooph (also modifier 62)

Am I on the right track?. I can block the name and send the operative report upon your request.

Thanks in advance.

Co-Surgeon

I know you can't bill for the appendectomy is it was incidental. You need to read the report.
58720 is an open procedure.

Modifer 62 is only allowed on some codes. I would double check all the codes you are billing with the CCI edits to see if they can be billed together (not bundled) and make sure a modifier 62 is allowed. Also, the report needs to show the medical necesscity for having performed as a co-surgeon vs primary/assist.

Hope this helps
