I have read that if your provider uses a Coude Catheter you can bill for a difficult catheter code (51703). Does there need to be more documentation to support this?
I obtained a 16 French coude catheter and placed this in standard fashion. As I got near the anastomotic site there was a small resistance, but I was able to pass through this and eventually hubbed the catheter. We then had brisk return of concentrated brown urine. I then filled the balloon with 10 mL or sterile water and secured this to a cath secure on the leg.
