One of our providers is treating a patient with Ivermectin for Covid prevention. The physician used U07.1 which is not accurate since the patient is not currently infected. It does not sound like the patient has been exposed and doesn't currently have any symptoms. He just simply wanted an rx for the med to help prevent getting the infection. Any advise on which dx code would be best to assign here??

Good question. Maybe Z29.9 encounter for prophylactic measures, unspecified? Maybe can you query the physician if the patient was exposed? It sounds like they might have been based on the physician asking for him to call if he develops symptoms. Then you could do Z20.822. Or possibly both dxs if they can be billed together.
