How would you code the following? A patient had a telemed visit. Provider billed 99442 and sent the patient to our "main" office to get a Covid swab test done by another provider in the same practice swab only no visit. How would you code the provider swab test? Thank you

Collecting the specimen to send off for testing, 99000. 99442 is a telephone call, not necessarily a "telemed" visit. So submitting this would not require the 95 modifier.

AMA has provided these documents that can be super helpful. Per your question above... yes you can bill the nurse visit and the collection. Be patient with commercial payers as they are adopting to these changing times... this is my code for (except some denials :) Just because it is denied right now does not mean that it is not billed correctly.

I was wondering about the 99000 code. My previous office used this code alot.
