What is the appropriate diagnosis for a patient that wants to have a consult to discuss the pros and cons of getting a COVID vaccination but doesn't actually have the vaccination in the appointment? Z23 doesn't seem appropriate without another code.

I think it was orginially coded with Z71.89 but the claim was denied so that why I've been kind of stumped.

I would appeal it and send the progress note. Services were rendered and the provider should be reimbursed. We had a dad bring in this female teenage daughter because she spent too much time in the bathroom. The patient told provider there was nothing wrong with her and she did it just to get some quite time. We used Z71.1 "Worried Well" and insurance denied. We appealed and won the appeal.
