Currently I oversee and audit the billing company’s work to make sure all charges were entered, entered correctly and monitor the AR. The practice is currently transitioning to a different practice management software. I also handle patient accounts. I will talk to the patients about their balance and explain benefits. I also work with attorney offices by sending ledgers and receiving/preparing reduction letters for accounts ready to settle. Before sending the ledgers, I have to verify that all charges have been entered. I will also prepare the accounts to present to the doctor when the attorneys send reduction letters. I would also review progress notes and procedure notes and code them and enter charges.

Teaching employees was also part of my duties. For the billing department, I would update the employees with any changes coming in from the different insurance companies. I would also teach the billing department on any new equipment coming into the office. The department would receive information such as what type of exams the machine was for, the required documentation, and the payable diagnosis.
This teaching would also involve the back office. The medical assistance were required to understand what every equipment tested and what documentation had to be on the chart including payable diagnosis.

Employee schedules would be prepared by me on a month to month to provide coverage for all the locations.
Credentialing all providers in the practice was also part of my responsibilities. I would keep CAQH current, submit expired certification and licenses, and renewing credentialing with the hospitals.
