Passed my CPC exam today and looking for an entry level position, either remote or hybrid in MI. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated:)

It's nice to hear from you all. I also just passed my CPC exam. Looking at the options to remove the A. I am leaning towards the one year work experience with 80 hours education. I am in CT., but willing to re-locate for a good job offer.

I just passed my CPC-A exam a couple weeks ago and I'm looking for an entry level job as well. I'm coming from a background in over 30 yrs of the dental field and now switching to a totally new avenue but am familiar with some coding, billing and EHR's from my previous background. Remote work is the goal. I did check the AAPC job listings and all of them said you needed a certain amount of experience so any advise on applying to job listings when you just passed the exam and have no experience? :)

Check out the The Judge Group. That's where I got my first coding job a few years ago. It's contract though. I didn't necessarily like that aspect, but it got my foot in the door. Also check with Humana.

Is there anything you wish you had known before working for The Judge Group? I am new to Medical Coding, and it's a great way to gain experience. It just worries me that I've heard some "horror stories" about them.

well....there's a horror story in every organization/job I've had over my 35-ish years in this field. The good news is that the skills and experience gained even when working just a short time in one miserable place have been invaluable. Getting a job as a CPC-A can be challenging, so I wouldn't balk at any opportunity. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger....and that applies in coding! Good luck.

I passed my CPC exam yesterday, so now hold the CPC-A credential. I also graduated in 2024 with my BSc in Health Science Degree from the University of the People in Pasadena. I am from South Africa and would like to get a remote medical coding job working from home, but first learn even for free at a Medical company that would need an apprentice coder to learn from them. I do not know whether the AAPC have connections in South Africa?

Yes, there is. But everyone's experience is different. For me, I personally hated having to work so much overtime to get time off. It was my first coding job, so I was just grateful to be coding. It's a great starting position, but I couldn't stay there long.
