what is the difference between codes 88305,88306,-88309.
i also have one more question already listed.:) ::confused: :confused:
 
They are all surgical pathology codes, but the higher the code, the more work intensive for the pathology surgeon. The pathology surgical codes are listed alphabetically anatomically and also take into account the type of procedure that was done to obtain the specimen the pathologist must examin, and also state whether some of the specimens were neoplastic or non neoplastic, with or without prolapse, etc. I hope this helps.
 
The only way you can tell if it is a benign neoplasm is in the pathology report. Which is where your medical terminology will be helpful. So anything that states "carcinoma" is not benign, a nevus, for example, would be. This is not to say that is all you'd see, of course, just a couple of examples. That is why I say you need your knowledge of medical terminology.
